While they're both good, how did you achieve the effect on the second photo? Is that an actual painting or a background generated by software?

OK Bob Yankle..the simple answer to your question is the background was generated by Elements 13. Not even sure I can remember exactly what I did but it was something like this.
I started with an arrangement of leaves...may have played a little with the basics like contrast and saturation. Then did an extrude, then a wave. Then I layered that image onto another leaf arrangement image with the big green hydrangea leaf. Then I put a mask on so I could uncover the hydrangea leaf, maple leaf, and hydrangea flowers.
I still have a pile of leaves on my kitchen table folded up in newspaper and under some magazines to keep them flat...AND IT IS RAINING TODAY...so who knows what I will come up with next...could be they are all brown and will go in the trash...Maybe/maybe not!
