Sand Hill Cranes

Jim Carter Loc: Momence, Il.
 
Went out with some photo buddies Sat. to a resting area for the Sand Hill Cranes. There were about 10,000. They are on their way to Florida. We were there at sunrise when they start to fly out to local farms to feed.

You did well with the 70-200mm Jim. There was a time I thought that was a long lens. Now I think of mine as a Medium Telephoto. My longest is a 70-300mm and I chafe when trying to get close-ups even at that distance.

Thanks Bob. My partner was using a 70-200 with a 1x telly and that early in the day he was having a hard time getting enough light.

They are very graceful Sylvia. What with their long necks and leg and the huge wings. They seem to just slip through the air.
