I'll be visiting friends in Davie, Florida for 10 days but I will likely looking for morning photo opportunities while they are sleeping. My friends aren't photographers so potential locations won't be a strong point for them.
I really enjoy photographing long exposure oceanscapes with interesting rock formations. I also enjoy wildlife photography. With the infinite wisdom of UHH members, I was hoping for some tips while I'm visiting next week. I need to keep my traveling distance under 1.5 hours one way as I will be borrowing their car.
Thank you all in advance. Have a great day.
Wakodahatchee wetland in Delray Beach. It's a great place to photograph birds, specially early morning and late afternoon. It's about 40 minutes from Davie.

Thank you, Rongnongo. I have been guilty of lazy browsing but not posting.
I visit South Florida twice a year. Aside from Wakodahatchee there is also Green Cay in Delray. There is also Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island. In Wellington there's the Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat. These are my usual haunts but there are many others

Near Blowing Rock is Coral Cove. It's less crowded and easier to park. Flamingo Tropical Gardens is nice and not far from Ft. Lauderdale.

If you go west out Griffin Road to just past I75 and turn left just before the gas station you can follow that road back and get some photos of young Thoroughbred race horses in training at Sessa's Training Farm. They have a full training facility there. They might even let you on the property for some closeups if you ask nice. Entrance is off of Dykes Road (turn left at the light by the gas station.) They usually train till around 9 or so. It is about 5 min from Davie.
There are a lot of birds in that area too, nesting swallow tailed kites, red tailed hawks, ibis, egrets, and many northern birds passing through to their wintering grounds.
I don't live far from there so if you need more suggestions PM me, I would be glad to show you around...I am an early riser.
A little further south but well worth the drive is Everglades National Park.
I've visited most of the places mentioned above, and never regretted any of them.

Thanks for that info. Lived in Delray for 10 years & never heard of Green Cay. Nor have I heard of Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat. I'll have to check those out in February.
Try the Boynton Beach Inlet. The beach there has rock formations, and sometimes spray. Beautiful in the early AM. The bat side is beautiful at sunset.

Green Cay is minutes away from Wakodahatchee and right now the spoonbills are in.
