Looks like they are trying to re-invent the wheel!
I'm sure my little Sony Handycam can make better videos than a smartphone and it has a 60X optical zoom as well.
It's small enough to put in my pocket, something you can't do with their setup.

Sony did that with the lens and sensor from the RX-100. A friend has one and loves it.

Sony also did it with the DX10 -> QX10. The difference between the two is QX100 has more megapixels and the QX10 has greater zoom range. I have the QX10 and find it a little awkward to hold and use. The pics show how I solved the holding problem. You need the Sony app (Play Memories, I think) on your device.
