Thought I would try converting a few of my shots from Silver Star Mountain (in SW Washington) to Black and White...I thought these were compelling.

The contrasts work really nicely in #1. Very appealing on download.
I love #3. Great framing, and looks like your son was enjoying the adventure, even in the damp weather.

Thanks Linda! For #1 I thought so too. I got the idea recently from a thread over at the Canon Forum site for B&W photos...many of the people posting there were posting conversions there (vs in-camera B&W). And he did have a great time, although we did get pretty wet. My trusty 40D with the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS I never let me down.

Very nice series. Especially appealing is with your son framed by a natural border. Black/white gives emphasis to the cool, rainy weather.
