Abusing The Dead; Amy Schumer's Gun Control Push Is Incredibly Dishonest

Actress Amy Schumer and her senator cousin are teaming up in order to push for gun laws that target only law-abiding citizens.

Comedian Amy Schumer showed her somber side Sunday when she appeared with Sen. Chuck Schumer to call for stricter gun control laws.

The “Trainwreck” actress said the issue had become personal for her since a madman went into a Louisiana theater in July and opened fire during her movie.

“I don’t know why he picked my movie but … it’s something that I live with every day and I vowed to never forget the two lives that were tragically lost: Jillian Johnson, who was 33, and Mayci Breaux, who was just 21-years-old. These women are forever in my heart,” Schumer said.

Her cousin, Sen. Charles Schumer, said he’s launching a new push to get Congress to vote on “common-sense” gun legislation in early 2016.

Schumer & Schumer are claiming that they want to “close the gun show loophole” and target “online” sales. Neither long-standing desire of the gun control-obsessed senator had anything at all to do with the incident Amy Schumer claims as her inspiration.

The man who attempted a mass shooting during the screening of Schumer’s film was able to arm himself because the state of Georgia did not report the man’s history of mental illness to the federal database used by the NICS Operations Center to determine whether or not someone is a “prohibited person.” Because the state failed to upload mental health disqualifications, this man was able to pass a federal background check and buy his gun.

Roughly the same thing happened to arm the white supremacist who murdered nine at Emanuel AME Zion Church in Charleston, SC. The self-admitted drug abuser did not have his disqualifying admission during a drug arrest uploaded to NICS, and he was therefore able to buy a gun.

If Amy Schumer really gave a damn about preventing the sort of incident that she claims to care about, her focus would be narrowly tailored on a relatively non-controversial push for more funding to ensure that states were able to upload disqualifying information to NICS in a timely manner.

But Amy Schumer isn’t focused on pushing for more funding for the states to upload records in a timely manner to NICS to stop criminals and the mentally ill from buying guns.

Schumer is instead attacking an imaginary “gun show loophole” and fake “online” sales, both old gun control schemes roundly discussed by my compatriot Taylor Millard at Hot Air.

Let’s be very blunt: Amy Schumer is abusing the deaths of Jillian Johnson and Mayci Breaux to push for long-ago-debunked gun control schemes that do not keep anyone safe, and only infringe upon law-abiding citizens.

Amy Schumer is grandstanding on the caskets of innocent victims for her cousin’s political benefit.

She should be ashamed. (Better yet, she should be "drowned" )

My comments;
All liberals harp about is "background checks"; Fine.....we already HAVE "background checks"! What exactly IS a "background check" anyway, you may ask? It's very simple, and it would have prevented BOTH of the recent mass-shooting debacles IF, (and only "IF" ), the states of Georgia and South Carolina had taken the trouble to report the data they ALREADY HAD on the nut-cases in each of these incidents to the federal database used by the NICS Operations Center to determine whether or not someone is a “prohibited person"

For all of you mentally challenged libtards, I'll give you a simpler analogy that maybe even you will be able to understand; It's kinda like having have a brake pedal on a car; if you need to stop, you push the pedal; simple as that! But if you piss around, and neglect to push the pedal, all of components in that fine braking system is merely "along for the ride", and you're doubtlessly going to crash into something, sooner or later; (usually "sooner" ).

Note to "Schumer & Schumer"........like all libs, even though the means to have prevented BOTH of these tragedies ALREADY EXISTS, you POS, grand-standing fools ignore the fact and just keep right on trying to GRAB all of the guns from the people who weren't even involved.

For a federal data base to ever have any "worth", any "meaning", the records and data on known nut-cases, screwballs, violent dim-witts and various other miscreants MUST be promptly forwarded to said "data base".

Here's another analogy that many may already be familiar with; hopefully, if you drive a vehicle, you probably have a "driver's license"; all states have a BMV, (or Bureau of Motor Vehicles ); if you are stopped by a cop, and the cop gives you a "citation", for say, DUI, driving the wrong way on an interstate highway, or even running over a group of church ladies, that "data" will be PROMPTLY forwarded to YOUR state's BMV "data base", and any cop stopping you after that will immediately "know about it" in about 6 seconds after stopping you!

Just another illustration of how well "data-bases" work; (assuming of course, someone submits the needed "data" to the freaking "data base" in the first place ). I'm guessing that Chuckie Schumer already knows this, and it's probably even possible that his ass-hat "cousin" Amy knows it too; the only problem being, neither of these POS's gives a rat's ass about the victims of these mass-shootings they always scream and yell about.......their REAL agenda is to grab all the guns from the entire population who had absolutely NOTHING what-so-ever to do with any crime.

Amy has a very large following with younger Americans. Her influence will get more attention to the issue of changing the laws regarding firearms in this country...you idiotic gun nuts should be very frightened...go buy more guns and ammo.

I suppose what frightens me most is the vast number of low-information idiots that will go along with her merely because of her celebrity.
Much like they did with Jon Stewart, too many people think "comedian" is a synonym for "serious thinker."

Influence is influence...you for example may believe that they will come for your guns...you were influenced into thinking such a thing is possible.

Yes, it is. And the fact that some people are strongly influenced by a second-rate entertainer is very disturbing.

  You just put your foot in your mouth. You do realize that "not coming for your guns" is in fact not just possible, but is reality because, in case you haven't noticed, they did not come for your guns.

That's a non-sequitor. It is completely possible to believe that "they are not coming for your guns," which is what I said.
Especially since, as I'm sure you didn't notice, the word "coming" indicates a futurity, not a current or a past. That they did not(yet) come for guns does not mean that they won't. Therefore, you are incorrect in suggesting I put my foot in my mouth. It is you who misunderstood what was being discussed.
