Doing some yard work yesterday and ran across this beauty-
A Luna Moth, which is an endangered species-Googled for info and found out seeing one is rare- another of God's fantastic creatures!

Nice Shot.. you were LUCKY to have your camera at the ready for such an important photo. Just the opposite happens to me, when I see some fantastic subject like this...my camera is nowhere near! Thanks for sharing! WHERE was this taken at?
Great picture. 33 years ago a student brought a Luna Moth to science class. I told her that it must be released. We let it fly out the 3rd floor window of the Biology class. It fluttered down as a Luna Moth does, landed in the lawn below and a Blue Jay pounced and ate it. Great lesson in survival.
Thanks for the comments-Wingspan looked to be approx 5 inches
Taken in our front yard in Kingwood, Tx - a heavily wooded area with lots of "critters"!
As a youngster, I used to see these flying around the old style incandescent street lights. Have not seen one for many years.
Awsome catch , i thought someone posted one of those the other day and asked what is it . I think it was on a railing .
That’s really cool. Seems like they would be hard to catch by prey. It looks just like a leaf.
