It’s a wonderful shot Erik but I am left wanting to see a small sliver of the edge to the vase all the way up.

It is a poor edit of your initial work.
Reasons:
1) You create a color cast on the light
2) The image is darker, too many details are lost.

Use masking to localize the changes and preserve both the colors and details.

See type of mask to use...

I used the two images you posted as layers. A crude way to do this. Using your own work and masking your effects as needed you should be able to achieve a strikingly better result.

Thanks Ron for taking a look and for the tips. The second one was just a quick edit to see what it would look like. I realized that I had screwed up the original exposure, but I was too tired to go back and fix it. :) Granted, my skills with PS still need some work. Personally, I prefer the first one, and if you rotate it 90° CW, I think it gives it a more dramatic effect.

Super image. Very striking. Lots of impact. Don't know exactly how you did it. Very nice.

Here ya go,
It could probably use a bit more work, but like I said, I'm not that good with PS yet. This is my favorite version.

Thank you sir. The set-up was pretty simple, just a thin metal skewer to suspend the bulb in the vase, and lit from one flash behind and below.
