Got a heck of a deal on a Canon 7D Mk 2 with a 18-135 mm kit lens for $1300.00 USA warranty from a TN. pawn shop on Ebay. Camera and lens were brand new except for the 4 shots the pawn shop took. I have a 4 L glass lens that cover the the same range so should I keep the kit lens? Or sell it to reduce my investment in the new camera. Currently have a 5D Mk 3 and selling my 7D and 28-70mm Sigma.

If you plan on taking videos you may want to consider keeping the 18-135 STM. The STM focus motor was designed to work with the video auto focus in the latest Canon DSLRs.

I have pretty much what you have also and chose to keep the lens. Great lens, excellent walk around and travel lens.

get rid of the sigma the canon lens is hardly a kit lens and is more versatile then the sigma. What makes a kit lens less appealing than something that costs less?

Great deal. I believe I paid $1700 for the body alone from B&H but they had a price reduction a week later and refunded two or three hundred back. I can't remember $hit.

I hate to see what the pawn shop paid for it!

Getting rid of the Sigma and the 7D, the lens was not that fast focusing at the Callaway Gardens Predator raptor show, had trouble with the down the throat shots coming straight at me. But got some other great shots.

Sells regularly on eBay for $150 to $175.

The day will come when you want to sell a Canon body, perhaps the one you just bought. The lens will enhance your canon body sale more than the value when you are ready to sell.

Of course you could try to sell it at $200 fixed and hold on that price, but it's still more likely to bring it's value and make the sale of a Canon body more attractive.

This is my goto lens for my Canon70d. I find it is a good range for lots of outdoor shots. I don't like to change lenses in the field because I never have enough hands, pockets and clean places to work in. The 18-135mm covers 90% of my shots. :)

You're right in that this lens produces stellar performance on the 70D.

I'm using mine on the 7DII and it's a light weight walk around compared to my 5DIII and f2.8 L lenses. The 70D would even be better for a walk around due to it's lighter weight.

While not Canon, my 18-140 Nikon kit lens is a great all around choice - only one I needed for my trip to Hawaii.
