Replacement for Aperture

The latest issue (November) of Mac Life magazine has a review of the Mac only program, Emulsion, which claims to do many of the same things Lightroom can do. It has, or will have, support for Aperture and iPhoto. The cost is $50 in the app store but the developer web site (The Escapers Consultancy, emulsionapp.com) has a 30 day free trial. May be of interest and worth a look at for those of use still using Aperture. I just downloaded it but have not yet evaluated its potential. :?:

Just an update. I have tried working with this program, BUT. There are some things I like very much, however, my experience has been that it will freeze the computer and/or enter an endless circle. I hope that they will continue to work on it and solve the bug problems.

Even though I use Lightroom, Topaz & Photo Suite, I also have a MAC. As any MAC owner knows, Apple does not necessarily make it convenient to interface with programs, other than the ones they develop or sell.

At this point, I'm not sure I'd change, however, had this new program been available when they decided to scrap iPhoto and Aperture it might have been much more appealing.

If you plan on using any plug-ins, go with Lightroom. Like any new program it will have a learning curve, but well worth learning. I've been on LR since V3, it's a perfect fit with my MacBppk Pro. Stay as far away as you can from Apple photo programs as you can, and stick with Lightroom.

I am just catching up on the need to convert from Aperture.

Any help on how to convert to Lightroom would be very appreciated.

I have to deal with 25,000+ images. Painful !

Yes, I know this is an old thread. I just want to suggest to anyone who has not yet found a solution that Pixelmator Pro is a very good replacement program and can interface directly with MacOSX Photos. I use it with Fast Raw Viewer.
