News Flash.

If you use Canon software it may be worth checking the software updates. There are updates from a few days ago that may be worth considering. There is a new version of DPP 4.x that adds older camera models such as the T3i, however, some of these new versions are not supported on Windows XP or Vista, just Windows 7 or later.

I am downloading the software now, and will update if I encounter any problems.

Good luck.

No problems so far. 3.15.0 is the latest of the the v3.x DPP, but does advise that it is only for W7 and later. 3.14.15 is recommended for earlier Windows versions.

I have a T3i, which was not previously supported for raw (.CR2) files for DPP4.x Now it works. Also, I like the idea that I can use both DPP3 and DPP4. DPP4 is supposed to be an improvement, but it has a different user interface. The fact that both can be used simultaneously helps in the migration and UX (User eXperience).

So far, no problems on Windows 10.

This is the info on the latest DPP4

How old are your computers? I have some 10 year old gear that does better on W10 than with W7....

Also, it looks like they are slowly adding older devices to DPP 4. Support for the T3i is new, they may just be working backwards so that they can retire DPP 3 eventually....

Good luck....

Four years??? These were purchased a couple of months before 8 came out. One was the last box in the store with 7. I did not want 8. Not sure about 10 yet, as I had to replace a scanner when I went to 7. My old scanner wasn't supported by 7, along with three applications, they had to be replaced also.

Have been using DPP4 for over a month now with no problems on Windows 7. Works well with the RAW images from my 7DII.

All good points, but there are often workarounds and drivers to be found that work with a little research. Sometimes it just takes a little research, persistence and persuasion.

Check out the Microsoft 10 update app that usually shows up with system updates. It has a system scanner that will highlight anything that may be a problem. I still have an HP 1012 LaserJet Printer that was never supported on Windows 7 and a PALM TX PDA (circa 2004) that work just fine with Windows 10, it just took a little extra research and care to find the right drivers....

Your T1i may show up in a month or few, my T3i was unsupported until a few days ago, and now works like a dream on DPP 4....

Yep. But we're talking about new support for older cameras being added to DPP 4 which is a changing scenario, rather than new things like Canon 8D mk IV California limited edition... :-D

Thanks for the info, I have a T3i as well. Are there any worthwhile new features that I can't duplicate using Lightroom? I use to use DPP exclusively, but more recently I've been using Lightroom for most of my PP work simply because it gives me more features.

Question. Will this be the same for both the T3i and the 7D. I do use Windows 7...Rich
