Some of the best free art exhibits anywhere are inside old churches. One must be aware of the fact that these are sacred areas to people, so (ie) re-arranging the silver on the altar for an artistic shot is a big no-no. Also extensive talking is frowned upon. Shooting can be challenging because of low light and flash usage is not allowed. Hearing a booming voice saying "SILENCE" was not uncommon.

Nice shots. Spent 3 weeks in Italy last spring and loved it.

Thanks so much. I have been in France Germany, Austria, and Suisse many times, and I did not expect Italia to stand up to them. I am happy to say I was completely wrong.

I'm glad my shots re-kindled your appreciation of a wonderful place. I found superb air fares on Emirates to Milan so I am visiting there in March.

It is so true. Anywhere in Europe you can find great art without the crowds of a popular museum by simply slipping through an open church door.
