I just heard that Playboy magazine will no longer feature naked women. The magazine is now run by women, and it will be interesting to see what happens to sales.

Quote:
'Playboy's 5.6 million circulation in 1975 has taken a staggering fall to just 800,000' - taking the nudes out is going to reverse the trend?

What will the new Playboy be termed - The Retired Playboy?

Quote:
'Playboy has effectively accomplished its founding goal of normalizing the female body by introducing women to the world in their au naturel state, the magazine's mission has been accomplished.'

So perhaps - the new magazine will display pictures od women truely in their 'natural state' - without the benefit of make-up, PhotoShop or un-naturally thin models.

45% of British women are dress size 16 or more so perhaps the new style magazine will reflect that.

Maybe the centerfold on their first edition will be Nancy Pelosi. I can wait, how about you

I think they are on the right track to reinvent themselves - their nude photos are a little unexciting anymore - those who want that can find plenty online. It has been years since I read Playboy, but I DO recall actually enjoying well-written articles and enjoying the "Playboy Advisor" section - and the jokes. I may actually pick one up and check it out.

(As a woman weighing in on this issue) I think they do need a change. Back when it came out, it was a leading edge product. (My father used to get these, so I am familiar with the magazine and in comparison to what is available then and now, it was considered tasteful) I remember that there were articles and comics/jokes that were amusing as well. With the filth that is available for free on the internet now, If Playboy does not change, it will fold as a magazine. Who (with internet access) would buy the product for the nudity alone(unless you are a teenage boy with NetNanny on your computer), when you can get all you want for free? In order to stay competitive in this age, you must become progressive and take things in a different direction.

thank God there is still Sports Illustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like their quote about what is available on the internet. Most of that stuff is crap taken by rookies looking to please the sex addicts and make a quick buck. Playboy was art and excessively good photography. It was an appreciation of the human body. Well now that everything is PC and they have sold the idea it is alright to look anorexic or ..... This is what it comes to.

Ya know, I don't go to Walmart to look at woman for a reason.

Next they will be requiring the photographers at National Geographic to put pants and shirts on the animals.

I just heard from a Nikon rep that all new Nikon cameras will no longer be able to photograph nude women. The company has been taken over by women and they said they are installing a chip into every new Nikon that will prevent it from taking nude pictures of women, the new Nikons however be able to take photos of nude men, and through walls!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you go to Wal-mart to look at women you need help, or an Optometrist.

I believe they're planning for the centrefolds to have women such as Hillary and Martha, and maybe in a good month, Sarah Palin. Suitably clothed, of course. Let's hope so, anyway.

Actually, porn victims can now sue camera companies.

First it started about shooting victims and gun companies. I hear laptop manufacturers are next. So far the unions have kept the car companies protected but probably not for long.

Hasn't Playboy been managed and editored by Hugh's daughter for many years already?
