Looks like a true bug, with an unseen proboscis.
We call them stink bugs. step on one and you'll know why..
I'd go with Leaf or Plant Bug, family Miridae: They suck plant juices. It appears to have a cuneus (small triangle at the end of the hard part of the wing) and reduced # but prominent veins in the membrane, but hard to tell as wing out of focus. Clubbed antennae are unusual (but possible) in this family. Can't tell if the small bumps behind and between eyes are ocelli (simple eyes) or just bumps, a critical character in this fam. - should not have ocelli.
For ID., bug photos need certain things: fore-wing in focus, one full antenna, the beak underneath, hind and front leg shapes, body shape. Did good getting eye in focus - a 'photographic' necessity (less for ID). Suggest shoot from several angles and include even if not so good 'photographically', the more the better.

Educated guess: Assassin Bug.
Not an assassin -- head's too short, wings wrong.

I think you are correct. After I posted, I looked around. Although Reduviidae come in many flavors, it is difficult to tell without a better view.
I think it is probably a member of the Lygaeidae family. I am in a daily battle with them on my milkweed this year.
Our weird hot & humid weather is not helping. I am currently picking off the fourth generation.
