When I set this up intended for photos to be organized yr-mo-day, but have a few items that are not in that constraint. Can't seem to figure out how to correct it. Folder image is shown below. Note the 06 shows zero images, but the sub-folders under it show the appropriate image counts.

Question is how do I change each of these subfolders to a folder that will appear in the correct chronological order.

Not sure I understand your question, the 06 folder is in the correct order. Do you mean the subfolders under the Macintosh? If thats what you mean, and you want to use the 06 type structure, you would have to follow that structure from the top level down. Below is an example of what mine looks like. I use the Photos directory on a Thunderbolt connected drive, but you can see the structure is the same from the top level /Photos. If you go down to the current year, those are also in date order
