Would someone please explain how to move the focal point on a Canon SX50 to achieve a better composition? I've looked online to try and find the solution without success.

Thank you.

Thank you.

You should find the answer how to move the focus point in your manual, but that will not give you any better composition. Those two are not really related, though you can use your DOF as a compositional tool.

Thank you, Linda. Seems my terminology, AF Focal Point wasn't correct, it's actually AF Frame resizing/moving.

Appreciate your speedy reply.

"... actually AF Frame re-sizing/moving."

Photobiker: Do you mean like spot, center weighted, overall????

The SX50 is really a great one to have, love mine and still learning.

Thanks for your reply. Linda graciously pointed me to the page in the manual on how to move the focal point. It just allows me to better position my image; that's what I was trying to convey.

I was looking for how to move my focal point around on the screen to better position my image and Linda kindly provided the pg # in the manual for how to do that. It is a nice camera, I agree. A refurb is on sale now for $149 from Canon.

Normally I'm just using the camera for photographs but the other day I took a video and was so pleased with the results. The camera took EXCELLENT videos of dolphins strand feeding on the beach and during the video I was able to snap some photos as well. I am very impressed.
