Do any of you people do calendars? I made some for my clients this year, got them from Vista Print. Ordered their best paper and all, but was slightly disappointed in the way the photos turned out. Not as sharp as I would prefer.
Was just wondering if their is a company out there that does a better job without breaking the bank. These were less than 20.00 each.

You didn't mention size or number of pages. Assuming that it was 8 1/2 x 11, $20 is a fair price for a press-print calendar of 12 pages plus covers, maybe going down to $15 for a quantity over 40 or 50.

If you want a calendar on photo paper it's going to be more like $3 - $3.50 per page in small quantities from a place like Bay Photo or Mpix.

The other choice is Costco - reasonable prices but limited design selections.

I have used Vista Print but was not totally satisfied but the price was good. I have been using Picaboo for the last two years and I've been very happy with their software interface and the final product. If you get on their email list, they alert you to current discounted services; they frequently discount calendars.

I have used Adorama Pix in the past and have great results. Some people have even taken the photos and had them mounted and framed.

I have some made up every year at Shutterfly. They use good, heavy stock and I find their finished product to be excellent. A wide variety of sizes and formats. I forget the pricing. It all depends on what you order.

On the same topic, does anyone know of anyplace to get calendars (8-1/2x11 up to 12x12 size) printed with saddle-stitch binding (like the ones that are available in stores) instead of using plastic spiral bindings so that they look more professional and less "homemade"?

Duh, don't you think I already have done that? They all use spiral bindings.

I use Staples for my calendars, because I can design them in In Design, and export them as a PDF, which Staples will use in the printing. Allows me total control and flexibility with respect to format, which many other calendar companies will not do.

Haines now has a Staples?
My family and I used to camp at Haines when we lived in Whitehorse. Lovely town in one of the most beautiful natural locations I have ever seen.

No, Haines does not have a Staples, a Costco, Home Depot, Barnes and Noble, or Bed Bath and Beyond. We are deliciously box-free still. I have the printing done when we are in California. For some reason, Staples still will not ship to Alaska, but they ship for free everywhere else. Not unusual, and also not quite so convenient. Their online order department is VERY good, so when I head south things are pretty well set to go.
