Hi group,
I've been using the free version (2GB) of Dropbox for a couple of months and I'm pleased with it so far. I'm considering an upgrade to the Pro version (1TB) for $9.99. Has any of you used this version? Thoughts? Problems? etc.? Take care & ...
I'd like to know too. Is that $9.99/month or one time $9.99

The $9.99 is a monthly charge. Take care & ...
if you remove a file from drop box, does it remove only the file in the drop box folders or does it remove the file from all your folders, drop box and/or otherwise?

It synchronizes ALL folders on all devices. You can delete the file on any device, and it's gone on all devices.

gotta make sure i understand this correctly:
if i delete a file called "horse" from my drop box, then every file on my computer called "horse" will be deleted no matter how many folders/locations i might have placed copies in?
Hi oldtrigger,
The free version I'm using sync's the Dropbox folders only. Using your example on my computer system, the file "horse" will be updated on my laptop Dropbox folder (file horse), desktop Dropbox folder (file horse) and the online Dropbox folder (file horse). If I make a change on any one of those computers the other computer and the online folder are also updated (as long as they are turned on). If they are not turned on then they are updated when they go online.
Now back to my question: Is anyone using the Pro ($9.99 per month) version? How do you like it? Any problems? Take care & ...

Al, it appears there are three plans available:
1- The free (2GB) plan
2- The Pro plan, which gives an additional 1TB of disk space, plus it gives you the ability to create different credentials to folders you share
3- The Business plan, which allows multiple people to access the site for collaboration
While I do not subscribe to the Pro plan, I have to think it operates as reliably as the free plan. I seldom have a need to share a folder, so the credentialing perk isn't of interest to me. This isn't to say I don't share content. I do by way of a link I mail to folks. Sharing a folder means those with whom you've shared it can also deposit files there. That isn't what I'm after. I just want to set some photos out there, send a link and let the recipient view/download the photos.

When you install the DropBox app on your computer, it sets aside space on your hard drive and creates folders there that emulate the folder structure at the DropBox site.
It works the same way as your Windows Explorer (or Finder, if you use a Mac), in that, you point to the file by highlighting it and choosing DELETE (or COPY, or MOVE). In fact, it becomes part of what you see in Windows Explorer, making it very easy to work with.
That said, if I go to a folder that's in the DropBox section on my hard drive and delete a file (or add a file, or modify a file), the resulting action is propagated to all devices using your DropBox account. If I delete a file using my notebook computer, the next time I access DropBox with my iPad (or my desktop, or any device), that deleted file will be gone.
Simply stated, ALL actions are synchronized across all devices that access that account.

When you delete a file from Dropbox on the web it will also delete it from your computers Dropbox folder. It will not delete instances of the file that are elsewhere on your computer.
I have the $9.99 1TB Dropbox account and use it a lot for non-photo files. It works great as a place to keep files that I need to access from different devices (several PCs, phone, tablet, etc.). It is extremely beneficial for my church committee files (can share with others as well), our Home Owners Association (I am the president), PTSA and the like. I don't think it is nearly as useful for pictures... for that I use Flickr (free and get 1TB) which is much more geared to storing and sharing pics. Hope this helps.
I use DropBox (pro) almost daily. I have 12 hard hitting real estate agents plus some others that keep me hopping. They like it and I especially like it as a delivery and secondary storage system. I think it is a great system and I have not experienced one problem. I have been using it for 8 months.

Been using the Pro version of DB for a couple years and it functions pretty much like the free version. No issues, no problems. The Pro version gives you more collaboration function/access capabilities. The $120 yr. price is comparable to other similar services. DB large file transfer essentially uses SFTP protocols, so it is quite secure and fast.

No. From my limited experience, I'll put several files in DB and eventually remove them. They disappear only from DB.
I tested that just now. The file I removed from DB is is still in its original position on my computer.
