Hello,
I'm debating the purchase of one of these three lenses;
Canon 300mm f2.8 IS v.I, 300 f2.8 v.I, 400 f4 DO.
I've been reading reviews for days regarding these lenses and there aren't many from people who own either of the 300s and the 400.
I'm finding the 300 IS costs little more, and the other two a close.
Wildlife is most of what I do with a lot of BIF (I have the 400 f5.6 which I love).
Thanks for you input.
Tim
Had the 300 2.8 V I no IS, 6 + lbs.. Just sold it GREAT lens - never missed the IS - always used with 1.4 or 2X TC, and support ( monopod/bodypod and rarely, tripod) except for the occasional smaller birds in flight. With Canon, I mostly now use the Sigma 100-300 f4 W/1.4X for BIF. ...... I have gone to Sony A77 II for everything else - again with the Sigma 100-300 f4 and use the 1.1-2X Clear Image Zoom ( 100-600mm f4 effective)
The 400 5.6 is a GREAT lens for BIF - hard to beat ! The 400 DO V I has always been a little suspect - the V II is stellar.
