Yikes, it's still not right. It's completely flat and lacking detail and contrast. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it doesn't look anything like the 600 pixel wide jpeg image I posted from my computer. Think I'm going to do no more posting unless I can figure out why the posted image doen't look more similar to the image in my computer.

Maybe you should post the original. What we got is the UHH thumbnail. When you attach the image click store original. Do not hit preview. That will remove your image.

Actually I've got a fairly decent monitor, a Samsung Syncmaster 24" which I keep calibrated. My professionally done prints look just like they do on the monitor. What I see posted on UHH does not look like the exact same image does on my computer. Something is being lost in the transfer.

Think I should try to contact UHH and see if there is some posting trick or method that I'm not aware of. Otherwise, I can't continue to post if the image looks different on the website than it does on my computer when both are viewed on the same monitor.

Post the original!!!!! You won't know if there's a problem until you do. I went back and looked at your previous posts. Someone suggested this to you in the first posting of the canoe when you complained about the way it looked on the site. It was suggested here as well. Until you do; you won't really know if there is a problem.

When you attach the image, click the 'store original' box and do NOT click on preview. If you click preview there will be no image posted.

I hope I'm doing this correctly. I have attached a 10.6 MB jpeg copy of the 74 MB TIFF original rather than the 600 pixel wide image. It's my understanding that all UHH posts have to be jpegs. Both the original and this copy are RGB files. I won't know what it looks like until it posts because the "preview" does not appear to include the image. As soon as it posts, I will comment whether it changed during transfer.

I'm still not certain what "store original" means. Does that mean the 10.6 MB jpeg is available to anyone for download?

I appreciate you patience. Thanks.

Jack when you use preview it delete your pictures. Read the last line in Aliens post! You still have the same picture you posted first. You need to check the BOX !Thats is the only way we can see a better picture.

We may not be able to assist. If you read what he wrote when he posted the image the second time on this thread it appears he might be concerned about people being able to download his image.

Yes, I can't imagine anyone wants 10-100 MB files downloaded by others if that's what "store original" means.

If I made the "original" an unprintable low or medium level jpeg at 600 pixels, then click "store original", would that work?

Yes I think that might work. But if you think someone is going to take your picture and you don't fell comfortable doing so, I don't know what to do. Maybe a small water mark?
