Great shots Sue. You got really close to that Carpenter Bee. A cousin to the Bumble Bee. It is a solitary bee, meaning it doesn't have any hive. It drills a hole in wood somewhere (like the trim on my front porch) and lays one egg there. In the absence of the Bumble Bee (haven seen one for more than 15 years or longer) this bee helps with pollination. Sorry Doc didn't see your post.
