I have been contacted by Conde Nast UK with an offer to purchase one of my photos for use in an article for GQ magazine and on Conde Nast Traveller web sites. I would be interested in knowing if any Hoggers have experience with this company, as well as any thoughts those of you who have experience with this sort of thing might have. As is probably evident, I have no such experience.

Come back and tell us the details after they make the offer in writing. I'd be interested in seeing what their offer is. You really can't decide until you see the full offer.
Isn't Conde Nast part of New York Times?
Congratulations are in order because it must be quite a nice photo if a major publication like that wants it! Unfortunately, I have no experience with them.

Offer is 100 pounds (about 150.00 USD).

Congratulations first off. Second, would love to see the shot they are considering. Cheers.

Hearty congratulations! However, there is a lot more to the offer than just the line that quotes the price. Terms, etc. Suggest you read all of it very carefully.

What's the full offer? 100 pounds for what. All rights? Rights to use for sale? Rights to use in an ad? Do you lose rights to sell prints? If you are selling it for 100 pounds, I'd make sure you retain some rights to the file/image and that they only have rights for one specific purpose - say advertising or a magazine publication or whatever but you want to be credited for the picture and have rights so that you can still do what you want with it.

Currently waiting for an answer to those questions.
Congratulations and good luck with your negotiations. Let us know how you do. Gary

Very good for you, make sure they credit your photo that includes your contact info for future sales. Also give them a one time photo release, that way they can only use it once and they cannot take possession of it. Read and reread their information they sent you concerning publishing your photo, Call them ahead with any and all questions you may have. Be sure you are clear with even the smallness of print in there correspondence.

You have the offer to enter into an agreement with them and you are on here asking for free advice? If you are not sure if you should enter into an agreement with someone, an attorney would be the best choice to help you understand the contract.

If you reread the OP I was interested in knowing if anyone on the forum has previous experience with the company. I don't believe the situation rises to the level of having to consult an attorney and I surely would not come to this forum asking for free legal advice if it did.
Much of the decision might rest on your level of already-accomplished professional reputation and visibility within the industry. If one is already very well-known and successful, then one would be led toward more demanding and detailed negotiations. If, on the other hand, one is more in a position where this might be a 'break through' event', then one might err more toward just making sure it actually happened -- since such opportunities from a major publication usually don't come along often at that more early stage of one's photography journey. Just my $.02.
