Here's a few shots I took last weekend at the butterfly exhibit at San Diego Safari Park. Any and all feedback welcome and appreciated.

Keep sending your great photos. I use butterfly photos to use as reference material. I carve butterflies and won a second place ribbon for a eastern swallowtail I entered at our carving show last Nov. The flowers were also carved.

Thanks Nikonian. I shot these with a D5000, 18-55mm lens and SB700 speed light. If you have the time the exhibit will be at the park until the 15th.

Thanks Gary. Composition is one of the things I'm trying to pay more attention to when I shoot.

They're all nice shots... #1 is sharp and colorful. I would have liked to see #3 and #4 with a really shallow depth of field so the beautiful colorful background would have been more creamy and the butterfly would have jumped off the page. It make me envious to be there.

Thanks bonsackbob. The lens I had, 18-55, and distance from subject made it tough to get that backround and still have all of the butterfly in focus. The exhibit is here until the 15th. Book a flight. San diego is a great place to spend spring break.
