Odd buildings in Atlanta

Located in one of the more unlikely areas - the town of Lilburn, Gwinnett County, Georgia - is the largest Hindu temple in the United States and, or so I've been told, one of the largest outside India.

Driving down Lawrenceville Highway, one comes upon this most improbable sight.

A home builder in our area decided he wanted to live in the White House... so he built it. It's a 1/4 scale of the original complete with Oval Office. No one in the area is very happy with his dream home. It's about a block away from our own place.

Kind of like what some people wont do for their 15 minutes of fame. I sure would not want the taxes!

Checking the DeKalb County tax rolls... $23,812.83 property tax. The assessed value is WAY below what he spent to build the place.

These are beautiful pictures. I'll try to get by there on my next trip.

Both building would be a surprise in Georgia, but that temple is really something. I sure wouldn't want the taxes either on the white house. Oh and these are great shots.

That's amazing, great photos. I am going to note this town as a possible place to visit someday. Thanks for sharing. 8-)
