At the newspaper, having graduated from duties as a "printer's devil," and working as a typesetter, we enjoyed sending newbies to search for a bucket of half-tone dots.
I find that duty title "Printer's Devil" unbeleivable, great.....I am speachless! A bucket of Half-tone Dots will be included. A very white box, with high contrast black label I assume?
When will we see pictures of your wonderful pharmacy?

A hand covered with peanut butter (smooth, not chunky). :D
In addition to "50 feet of shore line," we used to send campers for "the key to the flagpole."
Since large aperture telescopes are often referred to as "Light Buckets," I guess you could have a "bucket of starlight"!

While inspecting on a construction project I witnessed a trackhoe operator send his helper back to his truck for "a can of E-Z Dig, and not the aerosol; get me the pour kind."

In the fabrication yard in the 60s youngsters were often sent for a long stand. you could see them stood in one place for ages. Other favorites were the glass hammer and a bucket of blue smoke.

Hadn't thought about some of these in years, and many new. Good fun!
Agree with you, Quixdraw.
This is sure what I can use once in a while to bring back a lot of memories and smiles from the new ones...
Did anyone suggest the left-handed monkey wrench, an indispensible tool ?
Having worked in lumber and sawmills during school and college, I was often sent to one of the other two mills in town, for:
1) left handed Crescent Wrenches
2) "lumber stretchers" for lumber cut mistakenly short.
3) and the inimitable, and necessary "knot hole remover".
There were others.
They had it rigged so we went to all the the other mills. The foreman we approached at our first chore would ask us what mill we came from and then send us on to the third mill, feigning having leant the item to the third mill. Took up an afternoon by the time you looked up two foremen and returned to report to your boss.
He then would say, "Oh Yeah, that was brought back yesterday". We never knew until we attained seniority and learned the tricks.
