A box full of problem solvers. A union scale was always my favorite

A Union Scale, I suspect that would be found on the left side of the shop, on a crooked shelf?

Over the years, I have collected, without understanding why, small containers, minature bottles, cans and even boxes. Well, I now know why. I am to create a minature 21st Century Mercantile, a modern day general store, if you will, with containers, labled, of 21st century essential oils, potions, and tools.

We all grew up knowing that witches had spice racks full of Eye of Newt, Essence of Frog Lips, Dragon Blood, and other wonders. And each one of us, have either searched, or sent some new-bee out to search for a essential (mythical) item, tool, or product.

Which Air Force Vet hasn't sent a young naive troop out for a bucket of Prop Wash, or a few feet of Flightline? And I have heard Navy Vets fondly recall their unofficial ship-wide scavenger hunt for the replace batteries for the Sound Powered Telephone. Ordnance Techicians, Bomb and Bullet Counters, never have enough Low Drag High Speed Bomb Paint. I even remember my Great Great Grandmother, a high-paid union Seemstress, laughing over sending a new employee to search for a thimble full of Thread Count.

Enough introduction. I fully suspect each of us, in our personal universe know of an 21st Century Essential. Please tell me, so I can fill my little minature mercantile shop' shelves with a those great, often humorous, likely mythical, always hard to find items. Being ignorant of your specific world needs, please tell me the name of the product, the method of shipping, and if possible a brief description, i.e. Thread Count was always stored and carried by the Thimble-full, while Prop Wash was always a lovely Air Force Blue liquid that was required by the Bucket-full, and Flightline was store by the roll, and used by "a few feet".

I look forward to creating the ultimate inventory of our mythical essentials.

Forgot my favorite tool, the Box Stretcher, a tool used to solve that problem when you find you have just a wee bit more stuff than a box-full. Send the newest employee to the dusty basement to retrieve the Box-Stretcher. This item always seems to be needed at coffee break time, or lunchtime.

Thanks in advance.

Lol today these little jokes could be called harassment .
IN Boy Scouts it was a left-handed tent stretcher.or the Canon Report.
in the Auto shops in was a Ka-nooten valve.

We sent apprentices to fetch - a bucket of sparks (for the welders), a bubble for the carpenter's spirit level and, for the girls in the office, an "Oversize" tool.

You have to wait for high tide. At a lake at a Boy Scout camp, that could take a long time. :D

Electrical apprentices have been frequently sent out to get "cable stretchers" when they cut a wire too short.

In the Navy you would send someone out for deck clamps so the deck would be clamped down,

The one I fell to as a 18 yr old starting to work for an auto parts and repair shop.

The guys working the parts counter sent me to the 3 local parts houses looking for a can of compression.

I thought it was a can of fortified oil used in older engines to boost the compression.

I soon found out that I was badly mistaken  :hunf:

Then I suspect the "proper" container for Compression would be an oily, dirty, bulging tin can?

Thank you for your input.

Will see where I can include Deck Clamps in our Natical Department. Initially wrote, Marine Section, but realized how wrong that would be. I am sure, Marines on a float were never tasked by the sailors to find "hard to find" necessities.

Thanks for your input.

Thank you, any thoughts on the size or shape of the appropriate container for cable stretchers?

Thanks for your input.

My wife suggested for inclusion in the camping section, dehydrated water, and obviously the proper containers would be paper envolopes, simular to seed packets.
