This is a sunflower field located about a half hour due west of downtown Kansas City. I have traveled the whole state of Kansas and have seen lots of sunflower fields, but none as huge nor as tightly packed as this one. This field has even been featured on the local news stations. Hence, my reason for going to see it.

The opening teaser.

Man...that is a huge field. I never knew of this place, what a great find. Kansas is the "Sunflower State", and it's state flower. These are all nice shots, another good set. One thing I've always wondered...where are their eyes, since they always point themselves towards the Sun. Otherwise, how would they know without looking. Hmmmm!

What sucked here was that I purposely went there to get the evening sun and yet the flowers were still pointing to the east. They should have had plenty of time to make the turn by the time I got there. These ones are blind, I think.

Thank you for sharing. I grew up very close to the location and get home sick. Saw the "short" on national news. Nothing like a sunflower--beautiful.

Cool. What I thought to be ironic is that the field is actually in Reno, Kansas. It must have population of 1. Lol. MY parents lived in Reno, Nevada. No sunflowers there, just dirt.

Thanks, Tony, Yeah, I am at home. All this involved was sitting in the car while my wife drove. The ground was level and the field came right up to the road. I am supposed to walk 7 minutes at whack and do it 3 times a day. This counted as one of the walks.

Nah, those are the slow one's that end up in sunflower bags of seeds for NFL player to eat. (Just what I heard)
