Just upgraded from Sony A57 to Sony A7ii and am having a get acquainted session today. First downside I see is the battery is charged in-camera instead of an external charger like the A57.
Also upgraded printer to the Canon Pixma Pro-100. Canon has a special from August 30, 2015 to October 3, 2015. The normal price is $399.00, now have an instant in-house rebate of $50.00 plus a mail-in rebate of $200.00 making the purchase price $149.00. Sounds like a great buy to me.
Now back to the A7.
It is a great printer.
Don't forget that most places include a full set of ink cartridges worth about $100 and about $40 worth of 13x19 paper.

My A6000 is like that too. So do what I did, buy an external charger and some extra batteries. You are going to need them.

Yes, got the full set of cartridges, however got only 25 sheets of 8.5 x 11 matte paper. Was OK.. Discounted a camera bag.
Bought at Samy's camera in Pasadena, CA. with several locations in Los Angeles. Great "toy shop" for camera buffs.
I routinely print 13x19-inch color prints with my Canon Pro-100.
I invite you to visit the new UHH section called

They basically give the printer away so that they can screw you with the outraegeous price for ink. I have a canon printer also, but buy ink from- Ink Farm at 1/2 price and have noproblems

Yes, it is a great printer. A couple of years ago, that rebate was $300, and that included 50 sheets of large photo paper.

Same here, still unused, told Jerry that when the CIS system was available I would start using it, but I haven't yet. There are now CIS available with chips. The chips were the stumbling block in the beginning. The cost of system is about $100 +/- depending. Jerry, you and I talked long ago about CIS for the 100. Did you get one or have you used your 100 yet? Search EBay: CISS w/chips for Canon Pro 100 CLI-42
Now that the TBCC, camera club, has a new projector, I find myself printing less and less. Two years ago almost all were prints; now only a couple prints, rest projected. At home, the ease and beauty of 32" or greater HDTV is taking the print enthusiasm away.
Being "well matured" I can have nostalgic memories, even false ones... example, there is a mystique of imagining taking a beautiful 11x14 color print from an imaginary developing pan... close your eyes and think of that thrill of years ago watching the b/w print come to life in the developer under the dim red safety light .... the young will never know the silver-thrill. Then again!! they wouldn't care a flip. Why would any one want metal forks, coffee in ceramic, and other archaic 20th century afflictions??
For my cameras which are supposed to be charged through USB, I have been able to find backup Watson batteries and chargers for each such camera at B&H. If your a7rII is like my a7r, it has an internal battery to keep track of date and time while your main battery is out of the camera, and that internal battery can ONLY be charged through USB.

The Canon PRO-100 is a really nice printer, and one of the few photo printers that still uses dye ink rather than pigment. I feel that dye inks give a much nicer finish, particularly on glossy paper, since the dye droplets are absorbed into the paper in contrast to pigment inks which simply sit on the surface.
Dye inks used to be notorious for poor longevity, mainly because of residual bleach (used as a whitener in the paper manufacture) which gradually destroyed the dyes, because (unlike pigment ink) they are absorbed into the paper rather than just sitting on the surface. This no longer seems to be a problem today since the dyes are more stable and the paper contains less residual bleach
The PRO-100 does seem to get through the expensive Canon ink at a hell of a rate though, much of it wasted by priming the print-heads each time you switch the printer on. Some people prefer to leave the printer permanently switched-on in order to avoid this ink wastage at start-up.
Also, the " ink low - replace cartridge" warning seems to flash up on the screen way too soon - often when the ink cartridge is still about a third full.

Price in Canada right now is $499.96 at Staples.
No rebate either.
Unlike my Pro-9000, the Pro-100 will turn itself off.
