Nikon P900 for Machu Picchu and Galapagos?

I purchased the P900 primarily for the trip we are taking in the spring, due in part, to the size and weight limitations on some of the flights, the wet landings, and the fact that I only had to carry one camera. Easy to drop into a gallon Ziploc, etc. It is a pretty capable camera and I seldom shoot in RAW.
Any thoughts from those of you that have had the experience?

Don't count on super sharp images.

My wife is landing in Lima in a few hours...for a week long tour.

But that's beside the point....I think you really have to try pretty hard to buy a bad bridge camera anymore...we have an sx50 and sx60...primarily because they do shoot in raw...you might not be interested in shooting raw...but someday you may be...

My daughter in law has a P600...and its a fine little camera with great IQ quality...from the P900 images I have seen here I don't think you will be disappointed at all...

The images are actually quite sharp with this camera. It basically suffers from two things:

1) JPG only - but he says he isn't in to RAW very much

2) It has a tiny sensor and won't work well with large prints or aggressive cropping.

But other than that, it will be fine.

The images are not "actually quite sharp," but if that's what you choose to believe, have at it. It's been almost two hours since I used my P900, so I may have lost track.

I think, Jaybyrd, for your trip you will return more than happy. All in all it is a fine camera.

Thanks all for the reinforcement. I've been very pleased with the P900's IQ and range of functions. I was just feeling nostalgic about leaving the D7k behind for this trip.

I have been viewing many shots taken with the P900 and I have to agree with you, the images are very soft. Maybe other people have seen sharper images with this camera.

I have a P900 and it is a nice camera in many ways. But I would never travel with that camera alone. When I have the opportunity to get really good shots or when I am visiting once in a lifetime places it lacks the IQ needed for the best shots. It would be a whole lot better if it only had as good sensor as my mobile phone has.

I don't know if the images from my P900 are "super sharp" but they certainly satisfy me.
