Thanks for the comment. I have updated the original post to reflect that the shot was taken handheld, tripod was not used..

Michael,
Thank you for the very encouraging comment. I give a lot of the credit to my friends here on UHH for setting the bar to reach towards. The SX50 is a fun camera that still amazes me for what it is capable of. Elements 12 deserves much credit also to allow me to adjust the lighting of my moon images. I like the darker images for the moon so that it doesn't end up washed out or over exposed. I prefer to take partial moon images that cast better shadows for the craters compared to a full moon.

Thank you for your nice comment on this lunar image. The SX50 is my favorite camera to use for these moon shots. I am amazed with it's digital capabilities.
