My husband and I hiked an area not far from us and at that elevation, not much oxygen. But, it was a beautiful day in the Colorado mountains.

I always enjoy seeing good pictures of parts of our country that are beautifully different from home. And I really like your second picture! Good work at 11,000 feet!

Thanks, and I as, well like the second one. I spent quite a long time just observing the beautiful patterns in the water. Glad you enjoyed them. Yes, we are fortunate to live in such beautiful surroundings.

Pattens in the water? It looks sort of like grasses. What is it?
Where did you hike? (I live at 10,200 feet in Colorado.)

Roder thank you posting, I only have two things say actually one to say and the other a question.

Say:: If that had been my up that high, you would might have been on the rescue team to carry me out.

In the water, a beautiful photo, what was it dead water vegetation.

I like #2!

I recently went on a hike up to 10.8K ft ASL in the Sierra Nevada range. I found it hard to get good photos up there because taking good photos requires thinking and this 2k above sea-level human was not thinking all that clearly at that altitude. But at least I had the forethought to take my M43 camera which was much smaller and lighter to haul up and back. I'm not sure I would have even made it that far carrying a FF DSLR.

Nicely done. I once heard that smoking a single cigarette. is the same as putting your body up to 10,000 feet. Still want that puff?

Yes, its was some long grasses that had fallen into the lake. Actually they were all around the edge of the lake. This is a small lake just south of Rainbow Lake which is north of Blue Mesa Lake near Gunnison. We spend most of the summer here. Your at 10,200 (where?) and I'm not sure I could do that anymore. Used to backpack, but have given that up.

Thanks and yes, it was long grass that had fallen into the edge of the lake. Almost around the entire lake.

Our hike was consistently at about 11,000. I just carried my camera and tripod. My husband carried our small backpack.
