This thread is hilarious, can't resist reading it. Now going on for a month with people giving advice to someone who isn't here. I love this forum. 8-)

Don't let the problems you went through keep you from using this forum. Most of the people are very nice and helpful. You asked for advice and you got a lashing. I have read several subjects posted and this is the worst treatment I have read for months. I'm still trying to learn a lot of things about other peoples threads. I'm almost afraid of asking questions now.
Have a great day and keep on taking a lot of pictures. You can always use that old delete button. Delete is used a lot by me maybe others. That's the great thing about digital. I got my first one a Sony in 2000 for my grand-son when they were babies. It didn't work for me to take pictures of them because it was so slow. By the time I was going to take the picture they had looked away or were doing something different.

Gallery3Ten, Please DO NOT post your own picture in someone else's thread. I know you are a new comer but still...

I'm sorry, I don't follow the logic or reasoning behind "DO NOT POST YOUR OWN PICTURE in 'someone else's thread.' " Isn't a forum supposed to be helpful instead of restrictive? I don't think it's against the guidelines. What is a thread for? If you post, it certainly isn't proprietary in a public forum!

You're a little late to the party. Read the forum's rules (first message in each section). Posting in someone else's thread is considering hi-jacking the thread, UNLESS the original poster (OP) has invited others to join in, or grants permission if someone asks to post their own pictures or to modify the OP's image to show how something can be done. It can be a bit annoying to post a message asking if it's okay to post an image, especially if the OP doesn't get back into the thread for a day or so. But the idea is to keep the thread limited to its original intent. There are some outstanding - more like outrageous - examples of threads going off the edge of a cliff, while the OP's original question gets utterly lost. Hope this clarifies things for you.

I think that in this case the person who posted their photo did so in order to give an example, to elucidate, the poster's dilemma, not to show off or to horn in on their posting site.

It seems as the 'rule' needs to be amended or omitted entirely, as it seems meaningless to me.

Sure, it can seem meaningless unless you're the original poster whose topic gets highjacked. It just seems a bit more courteous to let each OP guide the thread. Sorta like not interrupting or taking over someone else's conversation, ya know? Maybe that's why UHH Admin suggested we follow that guideline...

Then the OP should be the one complaining, not another member, especially a sarcastic one. That does more harm than anything else.
