Other than its Leica counterpart, it is simply the best bridge out there, no question about it. Best all-in-one package, as long as you don't have to put it in your pocket.
Good luck, and happy shooting.

I bought the FZ1000 to take on a trip to Europe, specifically for a biking tour I was taking and I didn't want to take my D750 due to the weight. The FZ1000 took incredibly clear, bright photos in RAW format, was quick to focus, even while I was biking through the streets of Mallorca. You will not regret the purchase - it's a great camera.
Wow! Didn't give us much time to answer, seagull. But, I think you are going to love your choice. Use it in good health!
Thank you all you are great I will show this to my better half if she stops talking and starts mumbling
FZ1000 with a larger sensor and 20 megapixels, is the most comfortable and a joy to use bridge camera I always go for preparing for a mountain trip - leaving my SLR's and lenses home. I am happy with IQ for the size 8"x10" of my prints and only occasionally print up to 16x20".
However, the camera body is almost as large and as heavy as any of my SLR's. The advantage is, that this camera doesn't need a number of heavy interchangeable lenses because the zoom is usually sufficient for most photo situations.
Convenience pays off here.
If the size or weight of the camera might be a problem, I'll take my other favorite - a pocket size Panasonic Lumix ZS40 - 18 megapixel camera with EVF. For all bridge cameras I made a quick to put on polarizing filter adapter.
My choice of cameras is different in winter.
I hope this might help you with your decision?
Enjoy your super bridge camera!
I can`t thank you all enough...The Hog is a true discovery full of great people
