Thank you very much, Jim. Seems like each summer the areas north and northwest of here are hardest hit.
What a great series, Linda!!! I love the processing you used, made for some terrific images. Not sure I could pick a favorite. Possibly the second?? Maybe the first??? Wow. I'll remain undecided, but I really enjoyed these. Great work!!!
I'll also mention I was up late last night, so the whole world looks smoky and red today. : (
Thank you very much, Randy. So glad you enjoyed!
Sorry to hear about your rough night, or maybe it was party hardy with Martian and the gang? :)

I've got an SX50, Linda. Wished I could make it work half as good as you. Really like the first one. How did you get so lucky to get the bird in the sky?
Do you use the digital zoom much? I, for now, de-activated mine.

Thank you, Marion! I do have a lot of luck with right time/right place. I was shooting in raw and P mode, so the camera only recorded that one frame with the bird (how neat you saw it!). If I'd been in HQ burst mode (set to scn mode on dial on top, then fnc button to HQ), I'd have gotten a shot of it closer for sure :)
I shut off digital zoom the first week I owed the camera. Optical zoom, crop, edit. jpg HQ burst for birds and critters, P mode and raw for landscapes - with attention to exposure compensation, if needed.
I am even having trouble now with holding camera steady for optical zoom. The one and only time I've used a tripod with this camera, I was photographing the bald eagle's nest. Mom decided to fly off the nest, headed straight towards me, and landed on riverbank down in front of me. What a scramble trying to get camera off the tripod and hold onto my dog (who'd slipped out of her harness) - who knows if mom thought 12-lb Trixie was a potential snack? :)
Beautiful, Linda. East and north, our area had one of the hardest winters ever ,but we were able to bounce back relatively quick. These fires out west are so devastating and seemingly without an end in sight.

Thank you very much, Debbie. That was one winter I was certainly glad to not be living in Maine :| And the western fires are just too sad; I can't watch the news regarding the dangers to towns, homes and livestock.
Such beautiful soft feel to these Linda... I love the sun in these!
A wonderful set! That sun looked as if there is another hot day in store.
Here on Cape Cod, we have had a very dry summer. The rain keeps veering off north of Boston, but early this morning, rain finally came our way. A couple of hours ago it was really bucketing down, but now is settling in to a gentle shower. HOpe it keeps up for a couple of days. Sorry for the vacationers, but glad for garden!
