It is really a treat when the people in the photos can be identified. I have an album of my great-great aunts that dates from the civil war. Unfortunately she never put names to the photographs. I know some were taken during the 1864-66 period as they have revenue stamps on the back. During those years there was a tax on photographs to help pay for the cost of putting down the rebellion.

When I look at photo's like those, my mind is wondering what ever happened or what was going on in there personal lives, there families etc. Some you can read about in the history books. Most are lost to History, but there visions still remain.
