Has anyone ever tried an Olympus C-765 camera? Picked up one at my local Goodwill store yesterday. Only gave $7.50 for it and it has a battery, but no charger or no card. Wonder if it would behoove me to get the same. Found both on e-bay for a reasonable price. Just don't know if it would be worth it or not.
Also found a users manual on-line and downloaded it just in case. I would like to use it as a P/S camera, but don't know if it would be worth it or not. Any input would be appreciated, for sure.
It calls for a 64-512 MB sd card, but either one isn't really availabe except on e-bay, plus I don't know if a larger card would work or not.
Thanks to all
The OLYMPUS C-765 camera
For 7 dollars! Of course it's worth buying the charger - even if it's just to let your kids or grandkids play with. I pick up cameras like this every now and then - (super duper cheapies) And you know what I do with them... I set them out at parties. Like we did with the old "throw away" cameras. I set them on tables etc.. that way if someone drops it - meh no biggy - but usually I get great fun pictures!!!
Ebay is a great place for the accessories - and so is KEH.
Thanks for the fast response to my question, TommiRulz ! Sure didn't expect any fast answers, for sure! I really appreciate the help...Will watch out for any more that may come along, ok?
Thanks again...

Great advise ... I would recommend giving it a try ... !
I have an old Kodak EasyShare C310 (with printer/dock) that everyone who comes in the house gets a chance at ... I also have a Kodak Easyshare Max Z990 that takes about 10 photos on the internal memory (card reader does not work) that is great for quick snaps around the house ... neither take great pictures but they are both fun to have around ...
Just go for it ...

Shape of the camera reminds me a lot of the C-4000... still have it here, used AA batteries and Smart Memory cards....
And that brings me to this C-765 : It does NOT use SD cards, it used xD picture cards. They are no longer made.
Also, unless you can get the Olympus brand of xD card, they may not work either.
The camera also does a nice job of taking images to be stitched together in-camera - but only if you have an Olympus brand xD card.
I'd think that the only way you can still get xD cards today, is "used" - I'm sorry I don't have mine any more, otherwise you'd be welcome to them.
A 2GB card was actually the largest xD ever made, and according to this chart it is compatible with your camera as well....

Thanks, Bob and Bill! Your replies are a real help, for sure. Sounds like I might just go for it. It isn't very much in change to get the rest of the stuff I need. You guys have been a real help this morning. I may ask a few more questions at a later date, OK?
I had one for many years. If yours is working properly, you will be pleased with it. xD cards are still available. Have fun with it.

I had 1 some years ago. It quit working but before it did, it took great pictures. Here is a photo of one of my showdogs taken with a 5 year earlier camera the c-2000 in the same series as the 765.
Who is that beauty called Cat Marley? Her picture stopped me cold. WOW Probably married though.
Thanks, cneajna.... Just found one on e-bay for $15.00 and change. Most of the other cards range from $39.00 and up. Too much for me, anyway LOL! This one is 2GB and will work in the camera.
Also found an extra battery, charger and cord on e-bay...
Thanks again

The Olympus C-765 UZ is an excellent 4-Megapixel camera if yours is in good working order. I've used mine for a number of years. I have the tube that screws into the threads around the lens. That protects the lens when it zooms in-and-out and provides a way of attaching 55 mm accessories and filters. Olympus made telephoto and wide angle accessories to attach that were of much higher quality than any cheap ones -- matched the camera I guess.
It has the ability to use totally manual settings -- only available through the menus, but they work.
You mentioned sD cards. Nope -- it uses xD cards.
The following was taken with my Olympus C765 UZ (post processing brought out the detail in the screen)
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-149472-1.htmlThe following attached photo was taken with the C765 UZ and Olympus 1.7X telephoto attachment. It was cropped and perspective corrected because the subject was way out in the middle of a field away from the highway.
