Here are two photos the original in colour and the other changed to black and white with a little manipulation with Topaz. I would appreciate your opinions
Nice photo.
In my opinion the B&W is confusing.

I agree, confusing. The color photo is very nice.

The B/W truly is beautiful, as Topaz never disappoints....

I like both. But as a former B&W film photographer my opinion is a bit biased. But I actually have to say I agree a bit with "confusing" about the B&W one. But to me it is more that the flower does not separate from the background well, due to the whole frame being overly busy.
What specific effect in Topaz did you use. I always convert with Photoshop CS6 using the color channels in Full Ps or ACR first and then if not interesting enough, play around in Topaz. I hear I should get Nik for B&W. Personally I would try to see if there is a bit of a color in the background that you can exploit to get more separation. Or perhaps just Dodge or Burn the background.

Color!!! Very nice image!!
But its a bit bright on my monitor maybe 1/3 stop.
I don't feel this is a good candidate for b&w. As mentioned, the image is a bit busy and it's hard to separate the flowers from the background. Too many small details in similar tones for a pleasing result, I think.
Even for the color, I'd like to see a bit shallower depth of field, darker background, and maybe just one flower close-up to show of the unique beauty of the bloom.
Black and white--the patterns are fascinating.

Like them both, but have a preference for the bold color.
