People who complain about boring flowers and boring birds please pass, these are dreadfully boring, beautiful
little baby Swallows and I love em!!!!! Every year we have lots of nests all around the buildings and arches.
They make a mess but all kids make a mess it's natural. They will be gone in a week or two, it marks the lateness of the summer.
1 Dis-used cottage. The nest is just inside this door on the ceiling. Yes, that is someone on the roof we have a builder doing a lot of work on the house and cottages

2 If the door was ever closed the birds would get inside under the door

3 Little porch where the nest is situated, big swallows in England arn't they, no no, that's a cockerel, he's been visiting

4 Where the birds gained access when the door was closed, unbelievable but true

You are spot on Geoff the parent's were swooping about outside. I tried initially with my Canon 7D with the 100 ml lens, too cumbersome for the restricted space, stood balanced on a barstool so I used my most favourite trusted camera of all time, my Nikon Cool Pix 990, point and shoot. Fifteen years old it is. A little story Geoff, when I bought my first Nikon 990 fifteen years ago it was "the Digital Masterpiece" priced at almost £1,000 equivalent to $1,500. Over the years they crop up on Ebay, I know I am strange but I now have nine of them. The most I have paid is about £25 that's about $37, I have had them for as little as £3 that's $4.50. They have a manufacturers weakness. The catch on the battery case door on the base of the body breaks and the door becomes useless. It takes me just a few minutes to cut a stainless steel plate that screws into the tripod socket holding the battery door shut and perfectly in place. I see lots of these cameras on ebay.com USA. I just buy the one's in the amazon UK. Thanks for looking and very kind comments, Geoff, obviously a Pink Floyd fan as I am myself, (Comfortably Numb).
Cheer and Beers.

Very nice set Graham! Is that a mud nest? Our birds over here would never sneak in like that.:) We have what I call barn swallows here. They love to make nest in the barns. But I guess I have never looked at their nests. Guess I had better go looking this week.:)

Nice to have you around again!! I will go try to get a few shots of the ones in the neighbors barn. They sure do fly fast and high. Had to get a shot of them.:)
