I have been a HOG for just over a year and have faithfully read the entries every day. But this is the first time I have attempted to show any of my own photos. So many of you have taken advantage of the hummingbird activity of this time of year. Here are three I took today. All are with a Canon 7DII w/Tamron 150-600 at 309 mm, ISO 800, 1/5000 sec at f7.1. Processed in Lightroom 5 and heavily cropped.

Thanks so much, Jean. I appreciate your kind words. The one I like best is the one I accidently left out. Here is the one that should have been first.

Wow Doc! Talk about starting with bang.:) These are great shots my friend. On a side note. Try putting the food in the feeder without the color. Some nice person here told me to try it. And a lot more came to the feeder. I am how ever waiting for a great shot like yours.:)

Thanks, Erv. That's high praise coming from an old hand at this like yourself. I've had a hard time getting good hummingbird pics. Going to 1/5000 of a second shutter speed has made a lot of difference getting sharper photos for me. By the way, the nector in the feeder is clear. You must be seeing some reflection off of the red feeder. Thanks again my friend.

Very well done. I too have been trying to capture Hummers, but with little success. How close were you to the feeder? My subjects don't come around if I'm anywhere on the deck.

Thank you kindly, mffox. I was between 15 and 20 feet away and was sitting in a chair behind my tripod and camera. I was, however, wearing camo hat, shirt and a camo handkerchief around my face. It was over 90 degrees hot so I only lasted 1 1/2 hours shooting.
