Out early with the Fujifilm X-S1; a couple families of cardinals were visiting the feeder and were very very flighty. The birds are still a little scraggly from the molt but I managed to capture a few poses by shooting through the leaves and branches of a crepe myrtle. I left the leaves and branches out of focus in front of the subject on purpose. In some instances because of the DOF the blurred leaves created somewhat of a frame for the bird. All shots in manual at ISO 400, 90.4mm, f5.6, 1/80th to 1/125th. Please try the downloads.

Your cardinals seem to have a lot more black in their feathers than mine, very pretty!
