Hi Guys need a critique what could I have done better! Thanks for your Input.

The Sentry! Par 3 Tenth Hole. The Links of Galloway. Memphis, Tn, F8, 240 Secs. ISO 400, Broken Cloud Cover. My first Moonlit Landscape came out surprisingly like it was shot at 6 or 7 pm. Instead of 3:46 am.

This is just my take on it, but for moonlit landscape it comes across as too bright and appears almost daylit to me, also the sky takes up a majority of the picture but it doesn't have a lot of interest.
With the top and left portions ( about a third of each) cropped out it looked better to me. What's left has a warm evening look.

you might have tried to pick up the suns reflection in the water....
taking it from here my suggestion would be a crop to remove some of the sky from the top and some of the left side...
hard to explain so I took the liberty...hope you don't mind.

I don't disagree, I tried to tone it down in pp but the foreground lost all detail. I was debating whether I should have shot from an angle that would have included the moon and excluded the street light.
Thanks BassmanBruce

Didn't mind at all! That is not the sun, but a street light.

If you specifically wanted to emphasise that it was a moon shot you could get rid of the slight magenta cast and replace it with a slight blue cast.

The light may be a street light, but it looks like the sun, which takes away from the fact that it was a night shot. Again, you could change the light's colour from yellow to very light blue, which will make it look more moon-like.

The yellow/green of the grass of the putting green looks unnaturally bright, and again you could shift the green in the HSL section away from yellow and towards blue, as well as desaturating and darkening it.

I would definitely do some selective darkening in PP'ing. I also agree that it really doesn't look like a night/evening shot and that the street light looks an awful lot like the sun to me as well.

Also, I think there is too much sky which adds nothing to your image, and the sky is way too bright for an evening shot. It kind of reminds me of a cloudy daylight image, at least the way it looks in your post.

Best Regards,
Tom

No edits in the Photo Critique Section please.

I love the curves of the riverbank, I love the way the light falls on the softly sculptured land beyond. I am not crazy about the sky and the bright light is a distraction. I definitely see why you shot this image. The form, lines and light in it are lovely. I hope you worked the scene from different angles and with different settings.

Thanks for the comments R.G.
I lose the EXIF data when I try to selectively edit with the old version of Photoshop I am using. Right now I am using Capture ND/NX2 to globally adjust the exposures and have not learn all that the NX2 is capable of. When the moon is full again this month I will play around with some more shots from this location. I do have some variation that I will post in the gallery first chance I get.

Thanks Tom for your critique. The moon was at or about azimuth at that night with cloud cover periodically covering and uncovering the moon. Unfortunately the exposure I used just blew out the sky but was about perfect for the landscape. I never found a good balance in the camera. I am going to try again when I get condition that are close to that night. I do have a revision that has a darker sky but it didn't look right to my eyes and certainly not to the guys and gals around here.
Thanks again Tom.

Hi Nightski
Thanks for for your comments. That was the best angle of the shots that I took. It was the darkest place I could find close to me with a view of the sky and some distance from the city lights. I was tempted after I got home to crop it very tightly and just show the geese that were sleeping at the lakes edge. I missed seeing them when I was there composing the shot.
I will go back and reshoot when the conditions are similar.
