Hi all,

I'm using the MAIL tab to access my two email accounts and am getting used to it but this morning I opened emails from my mom where she'd sent pictures via her iPad and when I clicked on them in the Windows 10 email program I just keep getting this perpetual spinny thing. When I opened the same email in my iPhone the pictures opened right up. Any idea what I need to do to be able to have pictures open on my computer now that I have Windows 10?

Thanks,
Donna

Hi ,

I find MS picture viewer since Win XP as crap. Therefore never used them. What i love is IrfanViewer.

Regarding your main problem , have you tried to save the picture on ur desktop first or trying to open directly through email?

I don't know if this might be your problem, but not too long ago when someone with a Mac sent me a picture to my PC, it wouldn't open because the Mac image file didn't have an extension like .jpg or .tiff.

Thanks for all your responses but none seem to apply to my specific problem.

I've decided I'd like to go back to the day Win 10 was installed. I must have done something wrong because nothing is working as well as it did that first day.

Does ANYONE know how to do that? When I go to settings I get options such as returning to Windows 8.1 or resetting to my original factory settings. I don't want to do either of those. I'm going to google an inquiry and see what I get.

Thanks!

Go to Start button , type in Control and you will see Control Panel. Click on it. Then click on Open system Restore.

Se if you have any system restores versions there. But most like you will have one. this one.

But can you say what type of file it is when you save it ?

Thanks, catalint. I went there and clicked on restore and re-install Windows (which I assume is a re-install of Windows 10 because there's another option to revert to Windows 8.1). HOWEVER, this restore will require me to re-install Creative Cloud, all my Topza and OnOne plug ins, my printers and soooooo much more. I'm sure I need this because I also saw a LOT of crap that I don't even recognize on the list. But this is very scary for me and will obviously involve a LOT of work. Oh my. Must ponder before doing. Might be better to get a tech in here that could maybe help me untangle whatever I've done.

a system restore will restore your Windows installation to a point in time. So this is not a fresh windows install.

Anyway, not sure if you have a big issue there. Just cant understand what you define as wrong and other crap :) is your computer laggy, hanging? slow ? I am a tech guy , and problems like this is hard to understand from the little i know. It started with can't open picture. :)

Yes, it's slow and sometimes won't do things it did when I first installed Win 10, like open pictures. Sometimes Microsoft Edge won't even open when it worked perfectly at first. This all happened when I discovered the Mail window or block or whatever you call it on the Start screen or desktop or whatever you call it (the colorful page with picture icons). Personally I think Google Chrome and the Win 10 mail client are fighting.

Also, when I reply to an email I sometimes find it very difficult to get a "send" button to show up. I use email a LOT so that is not ok.

Weird things. It's also suddenly closing apps (like mail or a web page I'm reading) without notice.

Microsoft Edge is still not opening but, for example, when I click on the url in an uglyhedgehog response I get that webpage so I'm not banned from the web. I just can't get there thru Edge which worked great at the beginning.

Too many things are going bad.

Yes , I understand.
Sounds like a lot actually , and probably you would spare time if you just revert to your Windows 8 installation while you can , and consider a new approach on the upgrade.

As for me I must say i keep away from pretty much most of IE , Edge and MS proprietary programs.

Thanks, catalint. Things were running a bit sluggishly before Win 10 so I likely NEED to lose a lot of the stuff of that list.

Do you think that my LR catalog will remain if it removes LR?

if you take chose to restore back to your windows 8, it will restore your computer back to as it was. So if your LR was ok then , you should be safe.

BUT , must be honest , i have no more than one week experience with win10 myself, and i have not tried that procedure. :( For me all working well.

Thanks. If I restore back to 8.1 would I then be able to upgrade again to Win 10 without paying?

not sure how long this free upgrade is lasting.i am a little confused myself. I reserved for the upgrade, and ended up doing it from the net before MS sent me confirmation to go.
