Hello, my name is Michelle Mincey. I am a mom of 9 children ranging in age from 23years-20 months. I have 7 boys and 2 girls. I have always loved taking picts, but am not very good at it. My husband and I took a trip to Cozumel 2 years ago this October, and he bought me the new Canon 7D camera to take with us. Since he spent a small bundle, I feel I really have a reason to learn about serious photography now. Since then I have made several thousand dollars worth of purchases myself. For instance, I have a GREAT lens I can't use, a top of the line flash I don't know what to do with, etc. I took a couple of photography classes last year, and learned just enough to get me in trouble. So, I joined this forum to see what others are doing with their talents.

Can I offer some pointers? "Learning to Climb" is a great shot - did your instructor show you the "rule of thirds"? The eyes (The center of attention ) are in the upper left third in the frame -, and the lighting is good, with catch-lights (The white spot reflection) in the pupils - wonderful ! The arms seem just a little fuzzy - i know, i know, a toddler moves fast and often enough to exhaust an Olympic decathlete bu noon !, but your 7D has a shutter speed fast enough to lock in even on this cutie / blur . Let's see, that's 9 kids, times 100 shots a day each -minimum, you'll get to a million images by . . . . .(carry the one . . . . ) next Tuesday ! Keep practicing !

why cant you use your great lens or flash? Can i make some helpfull sugestions. First go to your local library and check out several different intro to photography books. find the one you like and buy it. reread your manuals including the flash manual with your hands on the equipment. if the manuals confuse you post questions here and we will answer. go to amazon.com look for the magic lantern guide for your camera and for your flasjh. the flash gun is more powerfull than the built in one on your camera. flash is even more usefull outdoors as fill flash to eliminate shadows and harsh out door light, start posting your shots learn from the advice apply said learning by shooting more post repeat process.
