Overhead Projector Use

I use white seamless for my studio stock photography shots. Naturally this can get a bit boring so I decided to spice up my background (doing a lot of portraiture) with "scenes" either drawn of purchased. I also want to use it to cast shadows on the model for noir shots. Any hogs have any experience in this area Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. I bought an o/h projector from Staples and it'll be here Tuesday. Going to pick up some blank cels tomorrow to draw on.
Any illustrations or photos will help
Thanks as usual

It'll probably be a lot more involved than what you're trying to do, but an acquaintance of mine worked in Hollywood providing color slides that were used for backdrops in movies. With large, life-sized slides he could put an actor on any street in the world and the only cost to the producers was his expense to travel and photograph. It was a bit more involved than what I just mentioned, but you can imagine the work needed, and the minimal cost involved.

You're on the right track with your approach, but you might want to explore back projection on a translucent plastic backdrop. Also, if using this approach, watch for hot spots.

Thanks Bob... I'm flying by the seat of my pants on this one. Unfortunately when we turned my ONE car garage into a studio the prop room took about three feet off the back and that wall is where the seamless are mounted so I am unable to back light at all. The O/H arrives Tuesday and I will immediately start experimenting with it. I bought some cels to draw on and I may try to transfer some colored Kodak slides onto them in some way ... my wife went to Tahiti many years before we met and the scenery would make some nice backgrounds material. Time will tell. I will share with the Hogs as I progress... or fail to.

There is a company that sells a system (all pieces incl.), that is right up your alley (and more). It's called virtual backgrounds! They also have seminars were you can learn everything!

Used projectors and old slides are available in used item stores at great prices for experimentation. Just a thought.
