Does anyone know of a reliable shutter repair person?

I have at least 3 that need work.

1. Copal 1

2. Kodak Flash Super-Matic

3. Synchro Compur

All are old large format shutters, with great lenses.

New shutters are expensive!

Hi randymoe: I don't know what quality work he does, he is a UHH member and might be worth contacting here is his website. http://www.discountcamerarepair.com/ Let us know how it works out if he does any work for you. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I do know of him, but I think I need an old guy who knows and has parts for old shutters.

"an old guy who knows and has parts for old shutters" are few & far between, & getting rarer as the days progress. I'm in the same boat. I've been staring at a Ciroflex TLR with a faulty Alphax shutter for about 2 years. Just can't seem to get started. Argus C3 shutter, no problem, I've had it totally apart & put back together again in a couple of days. But the Alphax, ummmmmm, where do you start? Maybe we're the old guys with a bunch of parts... from the shutters & cameras we took apert & learned from. (insert sad face here)

First I laughed.

Then I went Ciro-flex!

I reached for my Ciro-flex Model B serial # 73166, mint in the box with perfect case and all papers.

Picked it a while back and just put it away. Appears to have never been used.

Tried the Alphax shutter. Nothing. Read the book. It does not tell you how to cock the shutter. My Yashica A has a cocking lever. Easy. My baby Rollei you wind the winder and the shutter cocks.

What cocks this thing?

Or is it broken before anyone ever used it?

I know we are becoming the old men with parts, but I really do not want to get into shutter repair.

We may have to. New ones are expensive.
