Disappointed and frustrated with the Sony A57 after all the rave reviews on line and at DXO mark !

Today I realized I had a Minolta AF to Sony E-mount adapter that would allow me to use the same Sigma 100-300 f4 lens I have been trying to use with the A57. If I got good images with this, it would eliminate me and the lens from being problematic !

So, I went out and found my friend the Green Heron - only today he got two huge fish ( for him) in about 40 minutes - he was gorged !

Shot with Sony A3000, Sigma 100-300 f4 with 2X clear image zoom - effective 600mm from bodypod, manual focus. f5.6, ISO 400, 1/1000, hazy/bright late PM sun. Shot as JPEG, PP in Elements 9.

Great capture, and good job on the PP, I love the colors. The snails are a fun addition.

So it looks like the lens is a keeper?

Thanks idahoshooter ! yes, now I know for SURE it is not the lens or the guy behind the camera ! I have two of the Sigma 100-300's one in Canon mount and one in Sony A mount. The one in Canon mount is as good as anything I have ever used and now I am liking the Sony mount also !

Good gear is a necessity, but you still need the eye and talent to see, take and process the shot. You obviously do.

Thanks so much Jan ! The snails are where the Limpkin has been dining ! This was the largest fish I have seen a Greenie get ! - He ate two this size in an hour ! !
