Thanks, Gary. This particular nest is actually on a platform right next to the tree the 2 chicks are perched on. A local resident told me that there was a nest in a tree right next to the current manmade platform, and that it went down in a storm 2-3 seasons ago. Supposedly, the local osprey expert just happened to have an extra osprey nest platform in her garage. It was then set up in the current location. I really had to laugh when the gentleman told me with a completely straight face that the woman in question had "an extra platform in her garage". Personally, I keep my extras in the back yard right on top of my laundry line posts. According to my local informant, this is the second year that this osprey couple has raised their chicks here. I'm hoping they will be back next year and for many more after that.
