Ah, yes! I have been corrected and re-directed; as in SAL2470Z2 and SAL1635Z2. So, it is not just vernacular! THANK YOU! In their survey I did not give the (maybe offshore on a weekend) salesperson an "Excellent" in product knowledge, as he was kinda hesitant uncertain with his answer. From now on, I'll not call Sony, I'll call "Cholly"!
(P.S.: I might have keyed in SEL to the search motor, rather than SAL. That might have been the reason I got a blank stare.)

^^^Yep. A mount versus E mount.
Since the E mount Zeiss lenses are all in their first generation Z2 doesn't apply... yet.
Of course, with the growing popularity of Sony E mount cameras, I suspect that consumer demand will dictate a very broad range of lenses will be developed by Sony to fill that need. ;)

This is a great video about why Sony products are winning more and more fans and converts:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQF9PByWLP0(If you can't watch the whole thing, start at either the 7:00 or 9:00 minute marks)
World famous and award winning celebrity photographer Brian Smith and Gary Fong discuss why they switched from other brands to Sony. Note: neither are Sony paid endorsers.

I sure hope so. Some who carry E mount cameras are watching and waiting, especially those who actually like the little APS-C guys (shhh...don't tell nobody here in FF Nicanon/Canikon-land that I have one!) Thanks for the kind replies, Cholly.
I am a convert to Sony mirror less. Recently purchased the a6000 and a7ii cameras. GREAT. Am currently selling all my Nikon gear.

I am a supporter also, but wonder what type of shooting you do. I do not know the A6000, but have the A7r and cannot imagine using that for anything moving. Maybe the A7 with fewer pixels are a bit faster?
I do lots of street photography and landscapes. Use the a6000 on my 70-200 for further reach and as a backup when I travel. Am tempted to buy the 35mm 1.4. Seems to be a great lens

I have and like the 35 1.4 on my A74. Like I said, can't use it for anything moving unless I want to show the movement. Like the electronic view finder, the focus peaking and the ability to see in color exactly what is in focus. It's just slow, I think not the lens, the camera contrast detection focus system. Am considering other Zeiss lenses for that body to make it a true travel package. I do like taking the body along with a Nikon adapter so I can use the Nikon lenses and have a second camera ready to go with a different lens. Saw in another post that the 80-400 was nice, but probably expensive???
Where are you?
I do not want to buy a Nikon adapter since I want and need to get lighter when I travel. Am 66 and have arthritic hands. in May, went to Iceland on a photo trip and took my d810, d610, 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200 2.8's. My hands were throbbing each night. Cannot travel with a load like that anymore.

Maybe an interesting little vignette about the a6000(24/1.8ZA):
Yesterday evening (1800 hours) I was strolling down the most populated little street in my tiny, touristy, Left Coast river town. I happened into 2 strapping young guys from Japan (VERY limited English). One guy was packin' a huge Nikon FF with a 50lb lens, and an even bigger smile.
When they looked at the little camera and motioned (?), I clicked over to "full automatic" (trigger), put the piece up to my eye, and pressed off about 6 rounds before the surprise hit their faces. Then they wanted a closer look at that camera (more big grins)! Don't tell anyone we're having this much fun, Mick.
I am convinced mirror less is the future and Sony is winning by leaps and bounds. The a6000 can shoot 11 fps. The Nikon D4 shoots 10fps and sells for $6500

at 62 with arthritis also (knees and hip) I relate. Have the holy trinity of Nikon lenses plus the 200-400 which rarely leaves my deck. Traveled with a NG pro and went to a workshop with him - he switched to Sony with Zeiss lenses tho for him it was a commercial deal. Still trying to get my head around the Sony menu and command system having worked to pears Nikon-speak.
My trip to Iceland convinced me to get rid of my Nikons and go mirror less
