Does anyone know of a good reason why this rule is in place, other than restricting traffic away from the website for financial reasons?

I think it's because we have a Links section, links should go there. I seldom look in Links, though. The more categories we have, the smaller percentage of all the posts I see.

I'd like to see photography topics in the Main area and photos in the Gallery. We have so many sections that I tend to stay in Main, rather than jumping all around.

Another thing I'd like to see is the htpps work as a live link. It seems to work on other sites.

I get to posts via Newest Topics or Active Topics, so all posts in all categories get an equal chance to catch my attention.
