If you use Mac computers to process pictures try Affinity Photo from the app. If you are sick of Adobe trying to make you pay for the rest of your life to use photoshop & LR try this program. Their are some very interesting things in there to use. Go check it out. It only cost $49.99 instead of $700 for photoshop or pay for the rest of your life like Adobe wants you to.

Yes, I have Affinity and I'm blown away at what I can now do with only a $50 dollar program. It is roughly the same as PS and LR.
I don't regret my purchase at all and finally feel I got value for my money. Personally I don't like paying for something over and over again.

I haven't used it much yet but I like what I see there. I got mine for $39.99 when they had the discount going. I like the focus filter and depth of field one too. Have fun with it I will Lionel.

Is a pretty good video of using the healing and cloning tools, the rope and the elephant is pretty impressive, especially the sample rotation.

Affinity is nice but it's no photoshop + Lightroom put together...at least not yet.

As soon as it is...I'd consider jumping off of the Adobe wagon..but not at the moment.

Agreed, lets see if they continue to develop. They have a very good start, but we'll see if they continue to develop the product and maintain pricing. They will either continue to allow Adobe to do the R&D for them putting them behind the curve. Or they may really jump into the game, this will have the affect of a price hike.

Only time will tell.

I too decided to give it a shot at $39. I also have LR 5.7 and have grown to appreciate it with frequent use (and one of those Phil Steele video tutorials). Nearing 70, but figured I can always learn a bit more from Affinity's fresh approach. See that you are from WI - hello from Shawano up near Green Bay! Go Packers!

It seems to me that Affinity, while being a really great option as a single-image PP engine, does not compete with Lightroom (or, sadly, Aperture - RIP) in terms of being a Digital Asset Manager - that is, it doesn't deal with what LR was really initially designed for - organizing and categorizing the myriad of images one accrues over time.

I just got Affinity yesterday, which was the last day of the introductory sale. I haven't used it yet, but I think it will be a great tool for PPing images. As regards its inability to store and classify images, gotta remember that this is the 1.x.x version, and I have to wonder if enough complaints about that are received, if they would upgrade it to include storage and classification.

Certainly you could be right - they might well add DAM features - but really Photoshop and LR were created for different purposes (though LR seems to have been expanded to encompass many of Photoshop's features) so if the Affinity folks are focused on "a kinder cheaper Photoshop" their efforts might continue in that vein.

That said, of course if they add DAM capabilities (organizing into catalogs or collections or projects or whatever) and mass alterations (select multiple images and flip/color balance/crop them all at once) etc. it would be most interesting. I haven't yet moved from Aperture but having checked out Capture 1 and not liking it feel as though LR is in my future - like with the Borg, resistance is futile.

Holy cow, what a video tutorial I witnessed!! Is there a User's guide for this program so that I can download for faster understanding of how to do a task? I agree that for $50 this is an awesome program and I would like to get a copy.

Something to keep in mind, this new program, Affinity Photo, I don't think is intended to be a replacement for PS or LR, but rather to compliment it, especially for those not into photography at the more professional or advanced amateur level. Yet, in examining its features, it's certainly not lacking. The other thing is, it's an app, not a bona fide program like other photo programs such as Adobe, LR, etc. I also discovered that it's not available for use on one's IPad. At least, not yet.

I am not versed, well or otherwise, in using this type of program for editing photos, as I've never used any, outside of IPhoto and Photos and the very simple program I used when I had a PC laptop, so I have quite the learning curve, learning what all the symbols and their respective purposes are used for. It should be interesting to use it, though. And the price can't be beat, for what it is.

I don't think it was made to replace Adobe PS or LR. When Adobe up dated LR they bragged about high dynamic range. So I tried it and it sucks what they did. And now they want you to pay the rest of your life for that. I don't think so. I have Cs4 and that's as far as I'm going with Adobe.

So far the tutorial have been informative and I like that I can choose what area I'm interested, rather than following one tutorial link, linked to an other. Personally I think I got value for my money. BTW I live in Canada so the price was a tad higher (exchange rate) and I had to pay the sales tax putting it near the $50.00 mark for me.
